Balfour Beatty Living Places has secured an extension to its contract with West Sussex County Council to maintain the county's highways.
The £55 million contract means that the construction firm, which has been the local authority's highways partner since 2011, will now fulfil this role for at least two more years.
It represents a significant boost for jobs and will come as a relief for the company, which failed to have a similar contract in Wiltshire renewed two years ago due to poor performance.
The firm has managed to meet its targets in West Sussex, including a record in 2014-15 of 40 miles of carriageway resurfacing, 38 improvement projects involving the establishment of better signs, footpaths and drainage, as well as more than 33,000 defect repairs.
Managing director of the company Amanda Fisher said the contract renewal was "testament to the excellent service delivery provided by the industry-leading highways alliance".
