Barratt Developments has confirmed a significant increase in the number of new home completions.
The firm finished 7,626 homes during the second half of 2015, up from 6,971 in the six months to the end of December 2014, a 9.4 per cent increase.
Commenting on the figures, Barratt chief executive David Thomas said: "We continue to invest for the future, approving the purchase of £559 million of land and investing in training and recruitment programmes to help address the need for additional skilled labour."
The attention being paid to the need to train and recruit more skilled construction workers could be the key to further increases in building, with a shortage of workers being a commonly identified problem.
Barratt's figures are the latest confirmation of an overall rise in housebuilding in recent months, with rival construction firms also reporting increases in recent days.
Persimmon's figures for the second half of 2015 revealed an eight per cent jump, while Taylor Wimpey recorded a seven per cent increase.
