The contract has been awarded to build a new £15 million sports and life skills centre in Sunderland.
Sunderland Football Club's charitable arm, the Foundation of Light, has picked Tolent Construction to build the Beacon of Light Centre, which will be located next door to the Premiership club's Stadium of Light home, Construction Enquirer reports.
The cube-shaped six-storey building will feature indoor facilities, with football pitches outside.
It will also incorporate space to be used for education, work experience for young people, plus the promotion of better health and wellbeing.
Chairman of the charity's trustees Sir Bob Murray said: "The Beacon will be an exciting and inspiring education, training and sports facility and an important catalyst for the wider regeneration of this quarter of the city."
Sunderland moved to the Stadium of Light in 1997, leaving behind their former Roker Park home for the 42,000-seat venue.
It has since been expended to host 49,000 fans.
