A new hospital construction project in north London has been announced.
Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci will begin a joint operation to build the £150 million Healthcare Centre at Chase farm Hospital, following the decision by Enfield Council to grant planning permission, Construction Enquirer reports.
The five-storey building will include an urgent care centre, inpatients unit, eight theatres, a day surgery facility, outpatient care zone for ambulatory treatment, plus facilities for imaging, diagnostics and support.
Preparatory work has now started on the site and the new centre is due to be ready in summer 2018.
The wider project - which is being carried out for the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust - will also see surplus land on the site being sold for car parking, housing and a new school, as the result of an estate review by healthcare architects IBI Group.
Barnet Hospital and the Royal Free hospital also come under the trust's umbrella.
