The firm has just signed a pre-construction contract deal with developer LBS Properties to work on the 53-storey Madison Tower in London's docklands, putting it in pole position to secure the main deal, creating hundreds of vacancies.
Facing Canary Wharf across South Quay, the 53-storey tower will be 187 metres (614 ft) in height and contain 423 luxury apartments.
Also included will be a private residents' club and a ground floor pool and sauna.
Commenting on the development and the prospect of gaining the full £150 million contract in the summer, managing director of Balfour Beatty's UK construction services business Dean Banks said: "We look forward to securing the full award in the summer and to delivering this iconic structure."
Work on the tower will start this year and is set to be completed in 2019.
