Balfour Beatty has secured a two-year extension to its contract with Transport for London to carry out essential track work and maintenance across the network.
The company will be carrying out £170 million worth of jobs for the transport body, having originally been appointed in 2010 for a two-year period. Its success in repeatedly securing extensions means Balfour can further its reputation for delivering expert Underground maintenance.
Its work will include the supply of plant equipment and labour, materials and design work.
Balfour Beatty Group chief executive Leo Quinn said: "With world-class expertise in track, electrification and power supply systems, Balfour Beatty Rail is a significant player in the UK rail infrastructure market."
He noted that the firm has been using such skills in partnership with London underground for the past 13 years.
Balfour Beatty also worked on the Tyne and Wear Metro - which operates as an underground system in Newcastle city centre and Gateshead - from 2010 to 2014.
