Fitting out companies could be set to compete for a new contract to prepare the top floor of a prestige building in Northamptonshire.
The fourth floor of the Corby Cube had originally been earmarked for a restaurant, but a meeting of the town's council decided last year to abandon the idea, the Northamptonshire Telegraph reports.
Instead, it has been discussing other uses and considering an £83,000 fit-out of the floor so it can be used for other purposes, notably office use.
The switch from a restaurant to office comes after feedback from interested local parties indicated their preferences and the spending of the money on fitting out work could increase the amount of available space for this purpose.
Having originally committed £600,000 to the building, the council has £127,000 as yet unspent and still available.
The other floors of the Cube include facilities like The Core Theatre, a registry office and a library.
