Tottenham Hotspur have received the final planning clearance needed to proceed with building their new White Hart Lane stadium complex.
The new venue, which will overlap with the footprint of the existing stadium, will hold 61,000 seats when complete, nearly double the club's current capacity.
Hundreds of construction jobs will be created by the project, which will include the building of hundreds of new homes in apartment blocks next to the new stadium and commercial space.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy remarked: "This marks yet another major milestone for this vital and complex scheme and we are grateful to the mayor for his ongoing support."
Boosting the local economy and providing better amenities for the local community has been a key element in ensuring the £400 million project has gained planning consent.
The club is currently second in the Premier League and seeking to challenge surprise leaders Leicester City and local rivals Arsenal for the title.
