The first phase of a new construction project in central Manchester has been granted planning permission.
A joint venture between Bruntwood and the Select Property Group, the first part of the redevelopment of Circle Square will be the construction of two blocks of apartments, containing 716 dwellings.
This £55 million development is the start of a ten-year project that will eventually be worth £750 million as it transforms the vacant site where the BBC's Oxford Road studios once stood.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Rhys Westacott, director of project architects 5plus, said: "These buildings will play a key role in the long term success of this area, creating a place for bold and brilliant people to live and interact with each other and the city."
The site was vacated by the BBC when it moved to MediaCityUK in Salford, with the site set to be redeveloped in five stages including apartments, commercial space and shops.
