A new council house construction project has begun in the Highland town of Fort William.
The project involves building 22 flats on the former Tweeddale site in the town centre, which has lain empty for years.
It is expected they will be finished in time to be offered for rent in January next year.
The purchase of the land cost £2.9 million and takes to £40 million the total spent by the council on the town centre in recent years.
Although Fort William is a popular tourist destination due to its location at the foot of Ben Nevis, its town centre has been much criticised for being an unattractive place and significant investment has sought to breathe new life into it.
Other recent developments have included the construction of new bars and restaurants and the relocating to the town centre of the northern end of the West Highland Way, which had previously finished where the road out of Glen Nevis met the A82.
