A joint venture has been unveiled between builder Barratt and housing association Hyde Group to develop 318 new homes in Harrow.
The partnership will create a new development of apartment blocks as the centrepiece of a wider plan to revive the town centre.
It will include 267 homes for private sale, 30 for affordable rent and 21 for shared ownership as the site of a former Royal Mail sorting office is transformed.
Hyde Group's development director Mike Johnson said: "By working together through a joint venture partnership, we can share risk and reward to deliver much needed new homes and exceptional educational and leisure opportunities for Harrow."
The divestment of large former sorting offices across London has provided a number of opportunities for new housing developments.
Last month, Galliford Try was appointed to carry out construction and demolition work on the Islington Square site near Angel, where the new development will include the conversion of an Edwardian sorting office to create the 8 Esther Ann Place apartment block.
