Hitachi has formed a joint venture to carry out the construction of the new Wylfa Newydd nuclear power station on Anglesey.
The company has also formed its own British-registered firm called Hitachi Nuclear Energy Europe, which will be partnered by fellow Japanese firm JGC corporation and US engineering company Bechtel in delivering the power station.
Executive officer of Hitachi Nuclear Energy Europe Shunsuke Utena commented that "Wylfa is a UK project, and it's essential that we have devolved UK-management".
He described Bechtel and JGC as being world leaders in their own fields, adding: "Together we are primed to help make this project a real success."
The new station will be one of several built as the government seeks to expand the UK's energy mix.
New nuclear installations are coming online as several others reach the end of their working life.
The original Wylfa plant ceased producing power just after Christmas and will now be decommissioned.
