One of the largest build-to-rent apartment developments outside London is set to go ahead in Salford Quays after a deal was agreed between the developer Amstone Ventures and residential landlord Grainger.
The £98.7 million deal will see work start this spring on building five blocks that will collectively include over 600 apartments for rent, creating hundreds of construction jobs.
Grainger's new properties will be built at Clippers Quay by the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal, on the site where a multiplex once stood and close to the Media City development and the other features of Salford Quays.
The site also lies near the Exchange Quay Metrolink stop and the Trafford Road Bridge linking the Quays with Old Trafford, in addition to which a new footbridge is planned.
Grainger chief executive Helen Gordon remarked: "The scheme is of a scale that will enable Grainger to implement its full service private rental model.
"Clippers Quay is a highly attractive place to invest, driven by its connectivity and proximity to Manchester and MediaCityUK."
