Part of the famous Settle to Carlisle railway line is set to be closed for several months, as work takes place to repair a section damaged by a landslip.
Around 500,000 tonnes of earth slipped at Eden Brows, between Appleby and Carlisle, which led to tracks being damaged by the movement of soil.
Engineers have said extensive repairs will be needed, which will lead to trains being replaced by buses between Appleby and Carlisle, with trains still running between Appleby and Leeds.
Discussing the landslip, Network Rail's route managing director Martin Frobisher said: "The extent of this landslip means it is no longer safe for this section of railway to be open to trains.insert "
While the work will create jobs for engineers, it will slightly restrict tourist usage of the scenic line, which passes through the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The route includes Dent Station, the highest in England, which is actually four miles from Dent village.
