Construction has begun of a new £4 million oil and gas testing facility in Aberdeen.
Scotland's business minister Fergus Ewing has cut the first turf at the new site in Bridge of Don, where Sonomatic will carry out work in rope access, automated non-destructive ultrasonic inspection, as well as in the energy and defence sectors.
The building work will create around 50 new construction jobs and 70 full-time roles when the plant is operational.
Mr Ewing said that while there are "severe challenges" facing the sector due to the current low global oil price, "this investment from Sonomatic underlines the many opportunities that remain through our world-class supply chain and I look forward to seeing this exciting project develop".
Sonomatic's UK business development manager Tracy Anderson said the project shows the company is still committed to the UK oil and gas industry, despite its current difficulties.
Scottish Government efforts to help the sector include a recent award of £12.5 million via Scottish Enterprise for innovation in oil and gas.
